Privacy Policy
Last updated August 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Work2Wed collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have over it. It's written specifically for what Work2Wed actually does — not a generic template — because the data involved (employment documents, religion, community) deserves that.
1. Data we collect
| Category | Examples | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Account data | Name, work email, phone (optional), password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text) | Create and secure your account; verify your work email |
| Profile data | Date of birth, city, job title, industry, company, experience, skills, education, work history, About text, interests, photos | Build your public profile and power matching |
| Matrimony preferences | Who you're looking for, age range, location/profession/education preferences, lifestyle, marriage timeline, relocation, children, family preferences | Compatibility scoring |
| Religion & community | Your religion and community, if you choose to add them | Entirely optional. Private (only visible to you) by default. Used only in the deterministic compatibility score if you set preferences for them — never used to generate AI text, and never shown to other members unless you explicitly change the field's visibility. |
| Employment verification documents | Payslip, offer letter, or employment letter you submit for the verification badge | Reviewed by our team (assisted by AI extraction, see Section 3) to grant the verification badge. Never shown to other members, never included in your general profile data — see our Verification Policy. |
| Content | Posts, comments, messages, connection requests, reports you file | Operate the social and messaging features you use |
| Payment data | Subscription plan, amount, status, and Razorpay's payment/order/refund IDs. We never receive or store your card, UPI ID, or bank details — Razorpay handles those directly. | Provide paid features and maintain billing records |
| Usage & device data | IP address, browser/device info, session timestamps, pages and actions taken | Keep your account secure, detect abuse, and improve the product |
2. How we use your data
We use your data to operate Work2Wed: creating and showing your profile according to your privacy settings, computing match scores and candidate pools, enabling connections and messaging, reviewing verification submissions, processing payments, sending you transactional emails (OTPs, receipts, notifications), investigating reports, and complying with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
3. AI processing
Some features send your data to Google's Gemini API for processing. This only happens when you (or, for one feature, an admin reviewing your submission) take a specific action — never as continuous background processing:
- CV / onboarding text parsing — the CV file or free text you submit is sent to draft structured profile fields, shown to you for review before anything saves.
- About Me generation — your existing profile fields are sent to draft an About paragraph, shown to you for review before saving.
- Photo analysis — a photo you upload is analyzed once for face presence, blur, lighting, and inappropriate content; the flags are visible only to you, and never automatically delete or reject the photo.
- Document extraction — an employment document you submit is analyzed to cross-check the name, employer, and pay period against what you declared; this is advisory context for the human reviewer, never an automatic approval or rejection.
- Match explanations — the same compatibility signals already visible to you are turned into a short paragraph, explicitly instructed to never mention religion, caste, community, or income.
This processing is subject to Google's own API terms and data-handling practices for the Gemini API, which we encourage you to review directly at Google's policies if you want details beyond what we control on our side.
4. Who we share data with
| Third party | What they receive | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudinary | Photos and verification documents | Storage, compression, and delivery. Documents are stored on a private, authenticated delivery path — never a public URL. |
| Brevo | Your email address, and the content of transactional emails | Sending OTPs, notifications, and receipts |
| Google (Gemini API) | The specific inputs described in Section 3 | AI-assisted features, described above |
| Razorpay | Your name, email, and the payment amount — never your card/UPI/bank details, which go directly to Razorpay | Payment processing |
We may also disclose data where required by Indian law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Work2Wed, our members, or the public.
5. Visibility controls
Most profile fields have their own visibility setting you control, from Public down to Only Me: Public, Verified members, Matches, Connections, or Only me. Religion and community default to Only me. Your verification badges are always visible as a trust signal, but the documents behind them never are. Blocking another member hides your profile from them and theirs from you in both directions.
6. Data retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Account & Security in your profile. This permanently deletes your profile, photos, verification documents, connections, matches, messages (including your side of conversations with others), and posts — this cannot be undone.
Two categories are handled differently:
- Security audit logs (e.g. login events, admin actions) are de-linked from your identity rather than deleted outright, and retained for a limited period for security and legal-compliance purposes.
- Payment, order, and refund records are kept after you delete your account, de-linked from your identity the same way audit logs are — this is so we can meet tax and accounting record-keeping obligations. Your receipts (available on your Billing page while your account exists) are the easiest way to keep your own copy beforehand.
7. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Access and download the personal data in your profile through the app itself;
- Correct any of it by editing your profile;
- Control who sees each field via Privacy settings;
- Delete your account and the data described above;
- Ask us questions or raise a concern about your data via our Grievance Redressal process.
8. Children's privacy
Work2Wed is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. We'll update the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we'll notify you by email or in-app notice.
